Nice crusty loaf from Morrisons (other supermarkets are available - just not any of that lumpen shit that comes out of a bread machine), tin of Fray Bentos, too much butter, lashings of Branston, glass of skimmed milk. Marvelous!

I have arctic rolls every now again. Used to be a right treat as a kid but sharing one between six people was a bit disappointing. Now I have half of one with a can of cold custard. THAT is living

Corned beef, from a can, fresh crusty bread with a layer of traditional Cole slaw on top.

Very enjoyable.

This type of thread shows the age of some of us on here.

Corned beef is actually nicer out of a can than if you get it sliced from a supermarket delii. Got fresh corned beef from Lidl once and it stank of cat food.

The canned stuff is lovely made with a tiger bread sandwich or a nice bloomer with loads of butter. I think kids nowadays would turn their nose up at it and the early 20s in offices now are happy to spend £6 or £7 on a fancy lunch from Pret or somewhere.

In the 80s people were more than happy with a corned beef sarnie and packet of crisps.

I inherited the family corned beef tin stockpile when my dad passed away.

He bought a load when the falklands were invaded as he was convinced there would be some form of corned beef embargo in retaliation for sinking the belgrano.

It lasts forever, still tastes fine after nearly 40 years“

There’s a bloke on YouTube who specialises in eating really old food. Here he is eating Tinned British Army beef rations from somewhere between 1899-1902.

I like a corned beef sannie, or cold corned beef with egg n chips is also good. Warmed up corned beef is disgusting though, ie corned beef hash, it turns to messy shit.
